I can't believe that Father's Day has officially only been around since 1972. It took 4 presidents and a Maine senator to eventually make it an official holiday. Mother’s Day had been around for roughly 60 years by then. Sonora Smart was the first person to recommend Father’s Day to honor her Father who was left to raise his 6 children when his wife died giving birth to their 6th child. It was then recommended to complement Mother’s day in celebrating fatherhood and male parenting. Nowadays Father's Day is celebrated on a range of dates around the globe and typically involves giving gifts, amazing dinners to dads, and family-focused activities. To help in support of Father’s day young members of the YMCA went to church sporting a rose: a red rose to honor a living father, and a white rose to celebrate a deceased one. Perhaps surprisingly enough Father's Day was at risk of disappearing from the calendar while Mother's Day was met with excitement, Father's Day was often met with snickering. Not all dads are exactly alike! OK, so you’re thinking what in the world can I obtain my dad for Father’s day? I don’t live at home any more and have no idea what he wants. You aren’t really considering purchasing a gift card to Lowe’s or Home Depot are you? That’s about as personal as a another wool sweater.

Send An At home spa treatment
A full week of work and courses leaves me ready to take a load off and take it easy when the weekend comes. But we all know that the probability of me planning a weekend full of spa like treatment and peace and quiet is hardly probable. Though I’m not working I always end up with a number of errands that’s piled up throughout the week, a house to clean, and a variety of other miscellaneous tasks that slip themselves into my schedule somehow. While I might be able to talk someone into giving me a five minute back rub, I doubt I’ll have time for a facial and a bubble bath. In our world where we live such hectic lives, it is close to impossible to steal away for an hour or two let alone a full day to just put aside our busy lives and take a little ‘me’ time. Where I can possibly schedule in a chiropractor’s appointment or a waxing appointment once a month, it’s not quite enough to make me feel that I’ve completely pampered myself. When an occasion or a birthday comes around and someone asks me what I want, the first thing that comes to mind is “gift cards” or “a new pair of scissors.” Even though these might be reasonable presents, they are necessities and giving these essentials doesn’t require much thought. A gift should be something you want, not a thing you need. At times we forget our own value and we need a friend to step in and remind us to spend some time on our self. A gift should persuade you to take care of yourself, not help you run yourself further into the ground.

This proves that it takes much work and dedication to complete an education and this is why we should recognize those who see it through. My friend recently tranferred from Rhode Island to Colorado to finish his education half way across the country. He is lucky enough to attend a university with several campuses nationwide which allows him to transfer his credits freely from one campus to another. He did not move because he was unhappy with the campus in Rhode Island or in order to find a new social scene. His sole reason for moving to Colorado was so that his family in California could be resent for his graduation ceremony. My friend is from a large Mexican family and he is the first among them to graduate from university. For his family this means there will be a huge party that may last several days. He will not only be surrounded by loved ones and lots of great food, but he can look forward to the kindness of gifts. Gift giving is an important part of any graduation celebration, because it gives family and friends an opportunity to convey to the graduate that they are proud of them. Giving gifts is a way of showing that you support what the graduate is doing for their self as they arrange for their future. What is a Useful Mothers Day Gifts
Mother’s Day as we know it is a sort of recent holiday, though it isn't a “Hallmark holiday” established to sell more cards. There are a number of Mothering day or Mom-focused holidays in history which includes Mothering Day in the UK, Cybele in ancient Greece, or Mothering Sunday in much of Europe. Mother’s Day was developed by Anna Jarvis in 1912. Mother’s day was especially chosen to be a singular possessive meaning it was meant for each family to honor their mother, not plural possessive that would be used to remember all the mothers of the world. Following congressional approval, It was officially recognized on May 9, 1914 when president Woodrow Wilson made the official announcement proclaiming Mother’s day as a national holiday to be held on the 2nd Sunday of May. Mother’s Day has ultimately been adopted by many other countries and cultures. In many cases, the date was changed to fit existing celebrations or to concur with a significant date which are for the most part religious. Consequently, Mother’s Day is celebrated in February in Norway and on December 22nd in Indonesia, with a number of other dates in between celebrated by other people. One of the practices of Mother’s Day is to give your mom a present along with good wishes as a way to show your respect to her. If you live near by (and are seeing your mom regularly!) you probably have a good idea what to get her. However, those of us that don’t live close can be at a complete loss. Consider the activities Mom looks forward to a perhaps send her a surprise with that theme. Gift baskets are excellent when it comes to gifts with a theme. If your mom plays golf there are golf themed baskets. Maybe she is into tea and relaxation then buy a nice tea baskets or a relaxing pamper gift basket.
